HDI is at work around the world to help underserved and vulnerable populations challenged by disasters and humanitarian crises.
Get InvolvedHDI studies a wide spectrum of disasters and humanitarian challenges, as well as their impacts domestically and internationally. HDI conducts basic and applied research to support novel and innovative humanitarian disaster resources, tools, interventions, and to inform public policy.
HDI works with churches and faith-based organizations in Africa, Haiti, Southeast Asia, and the United States, equipping leaders to address trauma care and gender-based violence.
HDI offers resources for disaster spiritual and emotional care, disaster ministry, and for humanitarian development. These resources are intended for lay helpers, congregations and faith-based organizations, as well as for professionals in the fields of public health, mental health, and disaster management.
Housed within the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College, HDI is supported by a community of scholars and advisers from across the campus disciplines.
Faculty fellows are an integral part of the HDI, are recognized leaders within their respective departments and disciplines. Faculty Fellows serve as principals for HDI-related projects and help shape and carryout initiatives of the HDI.
